Perryville High School held its sixth annual College Signing Day on May 17. This event showcases those students who have committed to attend college or trade school, complete apprenticeships, or join the military.
This year’s guest speaker was Tim Steffens, a retired District 32 educator and coach. Steffens is a 1985 graduate of Perryville High School. Steffens graduated as a Perryville Pirate in 1985 where he was a three-sport athlete, devoting four years to football, three to baseball, and a year to track and field. Steffens earned a teaching degree at Southeast Missouri State University in 1989 before coming back home to teach science at PHS for a few years. He then moved to PCMS for 27 years where he taught PE and health, coaching volleyball, middle school basketball, track & field, and cross country. As a student, his fondest memory was being part of the district championship baseball team in 1983.
Steffens encouraged students to seek post-secondary education or training, find work that they enjoy, and remain connected to Perryville High School throughout their lives.
