Students created art by using dots to indicate their age, and lines and symbols to represent things like food preferences and number of pets

Mrs. Michelle Iffert welcomed fifth graders from Mrs. Robyn Valleroy’s class into her new art classroom on Friday. Mrs. Iffert previously taught third grade at Perryville Elementary School, and has been a teacher for 26 years. She and the students practiced the classroom greeting in American Sign Language: “Hello, my amazing art students!” Then Mrs. Iffert guided the students through an art exercise that expressed who they are: They began with their first initial, adding dots to represent their age, and lines and symbols to represent the number of siblings and pets they have, their preferences for dogs or cats, breakfast foods or dinner foods, etc.
