A bit o’ magic is coming to District 32, as the PCMS Pegleg Players prepare to present the musical “Mary Poppins Jr.”
Performances are set for 7 pm Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, and 2 pm Sunday, May 5 at the Performing Arts Auditorium in the Old Senior High School. Tickets are $8 at the door, or tickets can be purchased in advance at https://bit.ly/4aXwqmU.
The “practically perfect” 70-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged
performers, is based on the classic P.L. Travers stories and the Walt Disney film. There are two acts, with a 10-minute intermission.
The play is directed by Mr. Robbie Riehn. His assistant director is Ryleigh Schulein. Emma Fetterhoff is on the lightboard, Chloe Cox is on microphones, and Jared Stortz is in charge of musical tracks. The costumer is Jennifer Birk-Cook, backstage hands are Lilly Cox and Kennley Heim, and Blake Bodendieck and Jasmine Muench are on spotlights.
“This show has been so much fun!” Mr. Riehn said. “To our knowledge, this is the first time Mary Poppins will be brought to a stage in Perryville. It has been exciting to know we are bringing something new and fresh, but also classic to our audience. It is a very technical show, said Riehn. We have several magic tricks and scene changes. Thankfully I have an amazing crew, many of whom are former PCMS Drama students. This show could not run without our techies!”
